What makes my work different is that I don’t try to separate art from real life or from how people actually feel. I’m interested in moments that are soft, complicated, joyful, heavy, and honest all at once. A lot of what I create comes from what I’ve seen, lived, and noticed in people, especially in Black life, childhood, and the way we carry love and pain at the same time.

When I teach or speak, I’m not just showing people how to make something—I’m creating space for them to slow down, notice what they’re feeling, and put it into something physical. Whether it’s a workshop with kids, adults, a mural, or a commission, I’m always thinking about how the work can feel like it belongs to the people in it, not just something to look at.
